I am attempting to network an all-in-one HP LaserJet.
The printer will be over 30 feet from the computer and I
cannot use a wireless LAN, USB hub or router because I
will lose the scanning capability of the printer.
Therefore, I am networking the printer using a wired HP
print server. The server connects to the computer with a
network cable and to the printer via USB cable.
My question is do I need to use a crossover cable or a
standard Cat-5e network cable? If I do need a crossover
cable, can I use a crossover coupler that crosses over 2
standard cables attached to the coupler? The coupler is
about $5 and a 50' crossover cable is about $20-30.
Thanks for your assistance.
