I've been trying to install sp2 for over a year and i still cant install it!!!

i keep getting this message:

"An error occurred while copying file xmlp_wp.xdr.

Cannot copy file to destination directory.

Click Retry to retry the operation or click Cancel"

the main window says it was was installing
file WIRELESSPROFILE.XDR. Retry does nothing & cancel causes me to exit the
setup.

no one seems to be able to fix this!! i've been to sites like:
http://www.michna.com/kb/WxSP2.htm#Cannot_install_Service_Pack_2
and i've tried what they said but either i dont understand it or it just
doesnt work!!

Also i've heard that it might have something to do with the model of my
computer, which is a SONY VAIO PCV-RX572.

please help!!!

Have you tried a clean install with an XP CD that has SP2 integrated on it?

No, where do i get that?

If your installation CD does not have SP2, create one by integrating SP2
into it. It's called slipstreaming. You'll need to download the full SP2
file. Here are some links for where to get that file, and how to do
slipstreaming. Once you have the install CD slipstreamed with SP2 see if it
will do a clean install.
