I am trying to import archived pst files into a re-installed Outlook and
receive the error message that the archived files are "incompatible with the
current persoanl files folders." How can I resolve this?

Hi,

It sounds like you are trying to import an Outlook 2003 .PST file into an older one. Please refer to the following KB article for more information.

839109 You receive a ".pst is not compatible" error message when you open an Outlook 2003 .pst file in Outlook 2002, in Outlook 2000, or in Outlook 98

I am using Outlook 2002 and when I follow steps 1 & 2 I do not have the
choice outlined in step 3: "Click Outlook 97-2002 Personal Folders File
(PST). " What next?

In Outlook 2002 you don't have that option. Only in Outlook 2003 where your
PST appears to have been created. You must use Outlook 2003 to transfer the
data from your current PST to Outlook 2002's PST format.
