Trouble copying

When I try to copy files from my laptop to my home
computer (Both are running XP Pro) I get the
message "Cannot Read From the Source File or Disk". My
computers are not networked -- I am just trying to copy
using a 3 1/2"floppy.

I have searched the Knowledge Base and only get 1
article pertaining to this message, and it references
Windows 2000.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Kim

One possibility is
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;140060
which says in effect that there may be trouble if the floppy was
originally formatted in DOS or Win95, and that the workaround is to
reformat it, in win98 or later.

Another is simply that the two drives are not aligned correctly with
each other - too many floppy drives now are cheapjack, corner-cutting
things since they ceased to be central to the use of a machine
