trouble copying a cell from one workbook to a new one

I can not copy a cell from one workbook to a new one. when I right click the
cell on the first workbook and then open a new workbook, the paste is not
highlighted and I can not copy. I have been able to do this all the time.
For some reason, It will not allow me to do. I can copy within the workbook,
but can not copy to another

Open both workbooks first.

Then do the copy|paste.

It sounds like the second workbook may have a macro that runs when it opens.
And lots (most??) macros will destroy the clipboard when they run.

Thanks for your help. I do not see any macro's, but am not too savy in excell
