Trojans -vs- Iexplorer and Mozilla Firefox

P

Patty

I'm running Windows Vista 32-bit, and the latest Mcafee antivirus.

I got hit with a trojan virus. Now both Internet Explorer 8 and mozilla
3.1.1 will no longer work. Firefox will no longer load at all. IE8 will
load 2 copies and both freeze up before brining up my webpage.

Any ideas folks?

Actually you can do better than that combo.

For a home user :

Avast Home - turn off unused shields.
Windows Defender
SmartScreen Filter (in IE8)
Run IE8 in Protected Mode and with InPrivate Filtering as the default
(registry entry)
Prevx 3.0 Free
UAC on or in Quiet Mode
Windows Firewall
Set InPrivate Filtering at AUTO or Prompt and use the converted AdBlocker
File.
Windows UpDates ON however set Advanced System Settings - Hardware Tab -
Windows Update Driver Settings - Never Check for Drivers when I connect a
Device (always go to a device makers site and manually look for updated
drivers).

Even more secure would be to use InPrivate Browsing all the time.

The security built into Vista is so integrated that many programs just get
in the way.

Use SuperAntiSpyware and MalwareBytes as Scanners Only, nothing resident.
Though mine has never caught anything except an occasional cookie.

There are other scenarios however this one is extremely tight.

I agree with MalwareBytes!

There is no need to tell people to get an INFERIOR OS (Ubuntu) when they
already have Vista. Once they get their system clean and change antivirus
programs, they should be good to go. If they go with that PIECE OF CRAP
Ubuntu, then they won't be able to do any work because their software WON'T
WORK on Ubuntu. You are just too stupid to figure that part out. Now go
smoke another BOWL.

Actually, in real live testing, Ubuntu lasts longer than MS-Windows.

False. An anti virus program is only as good as its definitions are and
can do NOTHING with a virus for which it doesn't have definitions.

As it's been explained to you many times before, there are excellent
programs included with or with access to that are comparable to most
programs that run on Windows. 95% of the home and office users can use
Ubuntu without any problems. Those people who need to use niche
programs, can dual boot with Windows and only use Windows for those
niche programs and use Ubuntu for everything else.

BTW, your lying ad hominem attacks do *nothing* to bolster your argument.

You think the Open Sores programs are excellent when in reality the provide
only a small sampling of the functionality of the REAL programs that you pay
for. So if you want diminished functionality and programs that HARDLY work,
then by all means go ahead and install that INFERIOR OS you get a HARD-ON
for.

Who the **** would want to dual boot to use INFERIOR programs just because
it's there? NOBODY.

You certainly are an IDIOT.

A lie.

More lies.

More clueless drivel.
You certainly are an IDIOT.

And, of course, the ad hominem.

You've got one thing going for you: your lies and insults are consistent.
