Hi,

I seem to have picked up some nasty viruses on my computer. I have Spayware
Doctor and Avast all installed and it removes the trojans but they seem to
reappear upon reboot. The trojans are:

Trojan-Proxy.Slaper
Trojan.Packed.PCPack

Please help with advise on how to remove safely.

1. You will get better advice in a newsgroup for
viruses and malware than here (XP Basics.)
2. To understand how mallware "seems to reappear"
we need concrete information how your XP PC behaves.
Virus removal routines sometimes leave behind file
calls to (removed bad) files that appear as error messages.
Do you get bogus error messages or does the PC
really fail to do what you command?

Go through the following removal steps systematically:

Go through these general malware removal steps systematically -
http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_Malware

Include scanning with David Lipman's Multi_AV and follow instructions to do
all scans in Safe Mode.

http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Multi-AV - instructions

You can also check to see if there are targeted removal steps for your
malware here:

When all else fails, get guided help. Choose one of the specialty forums
listed at the first link. Register and read its posting FAQ. PLEASE DO NOT
POST LOGS IN THE MS NEWSGROUPS.

I ran spybot yesterday and it fixed over 100 files, rebooted and no i get
"cannot find logon.exe"...i went to safe mode, ran spybot again and avg, and
then also avast...reboot, and still no logon.exe pops up. Looked in startup
registry and saw kernalfaultcheck%dumpo or something like that. Removed that
but keeps coming back. My taskbar, is gone, my search is disabled, my system
restore wont work, and cannot get online...what is the log.exe virus and what
else do i need to look for to remove it?

kernalfaultcheck% should read kernelfaultcheck%

Very hard to tell when computer is not in front of me. But after what you have
posted ,I would flatten and rebuild the system.
I cannot advise you of anything else in your situation.
