trigger photo gallery question

this has me a bit perplexed.

I'm setting up a presentation where i've got a single slide, multiple
thumbnails on the left, all triggers. Click a thumbnail and a bigger
version of the thumbnailed image instantly flies in on the right.
Click another thumbnail and the first image disappears and a new one
takes it place.

The triggers work, and everything does like its supposed to.

However, when viewed in slideshow mode, the slide appears with all the
big images already in view, and you can see they are stacked on top of
each other.

the slide should initially show all the thumbnails but NONE of the big
images, when first viewed.

I cant figure out how to make it so. Anybody have any idea what I'm
doing wrong?

You need to cover up the large images (hopefully you have a plain background)
and have the cover up set to disappear on trigger (you'll have to add it to
all of the tiggers.

I just played with this for a couple of minutes, and I got it to work by
adding an animation to each of the big pictures. This animation will be
a "disappear" exit animation with timing of With Previous. That way,
when the slide shows, all the big images will disappear until the
triggers take effect.

no i dont... custom jpg image is background

so this isnt going to work for me at all, I'll have to use the
hyperlink to cloned slide method.

thanks

I could try and put a jpg clone of the bg, as an image, directly and
exactly over the images, in an attempt to cover them all up

but thats a lot of trouble, I have 4 different slide masters and I'd
need to do that four different times....

Not so fast. Did you see my other response?

Could you duplicate the background and crop it to cover up the large images?
It should work...

so the disappear animation is the first thing to occur for every big
picture?

am I going to have the same effect with triggers as with cloned
slides; the animations only work once unless i insert blank slides?

or will triggers work, every time, no matter how many times they've
already been fired?

hey that was great!! thanks! that did the trick!

much obliged.

and, the animation fires every single time, with the triggers,
regardless of how many times they have already fired.

OK, that worked, but now I've stumbled across something else weird.

the triggers all work, and everything acts like it should....
except... if i accidentally click in an area that is not within the
boundaries of a trigger button... the slide show immediately proceeds
to the next slide.

Is there any way to prevent this?

thanks for all the help

ok, never mind the last one.... i fixed that by drawing a giant blank
box around the entire live area, making it a hyperlink to the slide
its already on, and sending to back. Now if you click anywhere on the
slide that isnt a button trigger, you get the hyperlink back to where
you are.

the only drawback is that the cursor remains a "hand" the entire time
because the entire slide is now a live hyperlink.

Any other ways anybody could figure out how to disable the slide from
progressing to the next one from accidentally clicking away from a
button trigger?

No problem. The other solution (which has the same problem as your
earlier solution--with the hand always visible) is to go to the Slide
Show Menu and choose Set Up Show and check Browsed at a Kiosk. That will
require everything in the entire slide show to be done by clicking on
hyperlinks and triggers or automatically.

this is working great, so far. I have noticed that if i re-visit a
slide, the last big image i looked at, is already visible. Thats not a
terrible thing... if nothing else, it reminds the viewer, "i've
already seen this page"

thanks for the help.

Yes, that one requires the blank slide trick. I think someone else
mentioned it, but you basically put a blank slide before the slide with
the animations. The blank slide has a 0 second automatic transition to
the next slide. Any links should go to the blank slide, which will
invisibly forward to your regular slide, resetting all the animations.
