I have recently installed Trend Micro Pc-cillin after using Nortons for the
last few years ,I am unsure if Trend is of the same standard as Notons and
should I still use Windows Firewall and virus protection that is part of
Windows XP ?

Thanks for any feed back

Home user?

You are fine with Windows XP's Firewall (perticularly if you are behind a
NAT/Router device as well) and a decent antivirus application. You will
still have to practice "Common Sense Computing", but in general - you have
started off right. You may want to consider some passive antispyware
immunizations as well.

The "all-in-one" products offered by many of the better antivirus vendors
are often resource heavy and badly done in some areas. Remember - these are
antivirus producers who have suddenly deemed themselves able to create a
firewall application, antispyware application and an assortment of other
memory eating and processor hungry applications you may/may not need on top
of their possibly "just fine" antivirus application.

If your a home user
and your behind a router.
i would suggest you to get AVG Free it updates atleast 1once a day.
and is equal to Nortons 2006 atm.

i wrote this very sicerely, i not have any relation with any company
developer antivirus, but in my little experience over 10 years i trust in
Symantec [Norton] antivirus over the battle field is the most confiable
system to protect me and my servers & workstations, i test many other kind
of antivirus like McAfee [not detect all the virus and seems to heavy to
load in memory] PCCilin [i don't trust in software that cames free] AVG
detects virus over my disk, reality NOT A VIRUS, ok my experience tells me
only BUY LEGALY Symantec or the new MICROSOFT ONE CARE, is my new best
friend in my systems,
Best Regards
