trend micro officescan advanced scheduling

O

I am looking for a way to set up some advanced scheduling options with
Trend Micro OfficeScan. Ideally I would like to have everyone's
machine scanned at night. Machines that were unreachable at that time
would be logged and a day time scan would only scan those machines.

Is there a way to write scripts, batch files or group policy to kick
off a scan? I would like to think I could have all the users listed in
a database, update those who were successfully scanned and then during
the day have a second scan that only scans the machines with a
lastscandate greater than 24 hours.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Why is it necessary to perform a manual scan *that* often?

We've been using OfficeScan for years. We started off doing a weekly
scan, but found that it was a lot of processing for nothing. We have
since moved it to once a month.

OfficeScan's real-time scanning, plus the hourly update of pattern files
seems to get everything that we need. It is truly rare for anything to
be found during a monthly scan.

If you have a situation where a threat was recieved in the environment
prior to the pattern update, then just do a Scan Now at that time.

It seems sensless to me to scan daily when you have an on-access scanner.

YMMV

Due to some unfortunate incidents with viruses in the past that had a
negative impact on the company, we are required to run a full scan
daily. This directive comes right from the top of the company. For
the near future we will require full daily scans.

Do you know of any way to gain finer control on the scheduling?

Thanks,

Sounds like this may be a carry-over from another AV package that left a
bad taste in the mouth?

Rather than "kludging" server side settings and having to track who
updated when, why not just schedule a "Scan Now" from the client
side...perhaps at boot?

Just a thought using the KISS principle...
