Trend Micro Pc this big???

In my Programs folder, the Trend Micro folder says it is 5.76 GIGs!
Can that be correct? Is that normal for a Suite? I have the Trend
Micro PC-Cillin Internet Security Suite 2005.

When I run other programs, such as Ewido, it takes forever to go
through the Trend folder and that is not the only porgram that does
that when scanning Trend.

To me that seems way too big, but I could be wrong.

Am I?

Clearly, something is wrong. How many pattern files do you have saved?
Everyone since you originally installed the program? I suspect you'll
need to clean house of old pattern files, if that's the reason for the
expansive size of this folder. If not, try uninstalling and
reinstalling the program. Or, get something more functional.

I went into the Trend folder and there are thousands of pattern files.
I would say between 1-2 thousand, if not more.

I always assumed that the latest files contained and would override
previous files. I guess I really mistaken.

I don't even know that I really need a "Suite". Just a good AV and
firewall.

The "program" should only save the 3 latest and delete anything older.
But, there is likely something corrupt with your installation. In fact,
IIRC, I believe this is a known issue with PCCillin. My recommendation
(not worth a shit) would be to ditch PCC and get a best in class AV
utility.

Would you say NOD32 would be a good AV? Also, would AVG or Avast (free
editions) be good until I get the extra cash to buy NOD32?

Thanks,
Mark

I have licenses for NOD32 and KAV and think both are universally well
regarded. If cash is a problem, I guess you gotta make do (surely, you
can find a pocket or purse to pick).

Any AV can be an adequate security layer, as long as you follow a
SafeHex regimen.

Go to Trend Micro's support page and type in 124573. This is the
solution ID for a problem that is similar to yours. This has occured in
operating systems such as Solaris, Unix and Linux. Rare to find in
Windows environment. TM PC-Cillin Internet Security Suite was a short
lived bridge between the older PC-Cillin and the new version with
anti-spyware, etc and the change to their new scan engine. I do not
believe that TM continues to support the PC-Cillin Internet Security
Suite 2005 any longer. Upgrade to PC-Cillin Internet Security 2006.
