Has anyone used Trend OfficeScan 7.0 and Sophos 6.0 (or the previous
version) ? I'm looking for comparison data as I am looking at both of these
products for a new enterprise A/V deployment.

Can't let this go by without at least voicing my support for Trend
Officescan. Great management console and virtually "load it and forget it"
hands off maintenance.

Sorry, never used Sophos.

What's your opinion of the built in anti-spyware and firewall? Sophos is
pushing hard on me about their anti-spyware beating out Trend and everyone
else out there (except for Counter Spy Enterprise which was not included in
the 10 product test).

Trend also does not have a dedicated desktop firewall like Sophos (and
everyone else) does. I'm not sure if this is good or bad.

Both of these features have a lot to do with the purchase as much as
anti-virus does.

Well, I gotta tell ya... I don't believe in "personal" firewalls behind a
good network firewall. Also, I'm not big on the "spyware" real time
scanning. So... I don't use either in the Trend product. However, not sure
what you mean about Trend not having a "dedicated" desktop firewall. It
does.

My biggest issue with spyware stuff is that as often as not it is a virus
anyway. There is *much* grayed lines between spyware/virus categories
amongst the different vendors. One vendor will classify something as a
virus, the other classifies it as "only" spyware. Anyway, I prefer dealing
with spyware manually.

If you haven't downloaded the Trend Officescan product eval to try it out,
you should.
