Trash ATA DVD drive?

Aloha all. I just got a new Dell system with Vista. It has SATA on the MoBo.
My old system was IDE...ATA. I was hoping to use my old DVD-RW drive in the
new system. Is there a way, or am I SOL?
Thanks!

That's a hardware issue, not a Vista OS one.

Very cheap to add ide via a board in a pci slot if you don't have one,
but nearly all motherboards still have it, because most optical drives
are still ide.

This is a hardware issue, not a Vista one, and properly doesn't belong
here. But since it's quick and easy to answer...

Most, if not all motherboards that support SATA *also* support IDE, so
using your old drive should be very easy.
