Visit http://www.nvidia.com/object/nview_tutorials.html and click on
"5. NView Advanced Window Effects".

I get the same error ("Transparency is temporarily disabled because an application that
uses DirectX or 3D hardware features is currently running") when I press CTRL-B in Adobe Flash (which is Flash's "Break Apart" shortcut key). How do I disable whatever is in nView that's making this happen? I hate when applications commandeer shortcut keys without asking!

go to Control Panel > NVIDIA nView Desktop Manager

Then in the User Interface Tab, uncheck "Add nView options to system menus". Or use the [options] button next to it to turn off Transparency. Then hit apply.

worked for me. In Flash at least.
