I have a Linksys router with my laptop and desktop hooked into it. The router is not wireless, but I was wondering how can I transfer files from my laptop to my desktop via the router?

You will have to enable File and Print Sharing, Client for MS Networks,
install Net Bios TCP/IP Protocol, in the Local Area Connection Properties.
Turn off the firewalls
Then run the Network Connection Wizard
