How can I transfer my files from Windows 98 PC to my
windows XP laptop? Both have USB. Thanks.

Some possibilities:

1. Get a pair of USB Ethernet adapters, connect them together using a
crossover Ethernet cable, and run XP's Network Setup Wizard on both
computers to configure the network settings. Then, right-click and
share the desired folders on one computer and access them in Network
Neighborhood or My Network Places on the other computer.

2. Get a USB-to-USB cable, with added circuitry, that can network two
computers directly. Use the networking software that comes with the

Your XP laptop almost certainly has an Ethernet adapter built in, and
it's possible that the Windows 98 PC does, too. If so, you don't need
to use USB for networking.
