Transferring files problem

Mona

I'm new to the Vista World and not very computer "hardware" literate.
I've used the Windows Easy Transfer to transfer all my files from my old PC
that has Windows XP to my new PC which is Windows Vista.
I finally got all my pictures and music transferred (I think), but I'm
unable to get any of my Excel spreadsheets to transfer over properly. They
all transferred over in Adobe mode. Which I then realize that I hadn't
loaded the Microsoft Excel software onto my new PC. Done, but that hasn't
alleviated the problem. They still won't come over into Excel. What do I
need to do?? And how can I get rid of the Microsoft Works/Task crap. I want
my old Word and Excel as my forms. HELP!!

Right click one of the spreadsheet file and click 'Open With' on the
contextual
menu > from the Recommended Programs > select Microsoft Excel if its
displayed > at the bottom of the dialog, check the box that says 'Always use
the selected program to open this kind of file'.

Mona, when I purchased my new Dell w/Vista ........ I had to purchase MS Word
separately, it was not bundled in with MS Works .

Your MS Word files would have "transferred over" but you will have to
install Word.
