Transferring files from a Mac to an external drive

I have a 500 GB external (Seagate) hard drive that is formatted to
FAT32 so that my Dell and my friend's Mac can read and write to it.
When my friend went to copy folders with music over, the naming was
not the same on my hard drive as what is on the Mac. Has anyone
experienced this? If so, how have you resolved the problem? Thanks!

Hi Jon,

I've seen various naming issues. One was where all the file names had a
period placed before them (Mac to PC). Another had song numbers on one
platform but not the other.
