Transferring Files and Settings from Local Drive

I recently had hard drive difficulties, and sent my drive
off to DriveSavers to have my information restored. I'm
currently working off a brand new HD with a brand new WinXP
installed on it.
When my original drive returns, I'll be plugging it into my
computer as a secondary, so that I can get my files off of
it. But I'd also like to get my Windows settings and
everything else. I'm not sure plugging it into another
computer as a secondary would work to set it up.
So, basically, I need to know how to properly transfer all
my settings from one drive on the computer to another
drive. Will the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard work?
Should I just use the "copy" function to bring it all over
and let it overwrite my current settings?
Please reply via email, if possible.

This is pretty much impossible to give advice on. It would depend on whether
DriveSavers restores the drive to a working, bootable system or it just
retrieves the information in it's original format or some format you can use
to restore manually. If FAST was a possibility, it would mean your hard
drive was restored to it's original condition. In that case, you should use
imaging software to clone the partition to the new hard drive. When you get
the drive back and you know what information is available, post back. There
are just too many variables to give advice at this stage.
I suggest you check out the following imaging software web pages and look at
their online manuals to get an idea of what you can expect.
