Transferring AutoCorrect file info from cloned hard drive

Guest

I had to reinstall windows but backed up my entire hard drive to a removable
hard drive first. Now I am trying to put things back together. Is there a way
to find the AutoCorrect file on the cloned hard drive and move it to my main
hard drive? All the methods listed for copying the AutoCorrect file assume
that you are using the computer that contains the file you want to copy.
Thank you.

The file should have an .acl extension. Is there more than one such on your
removable drive?

Yes, I found four files with an .acl extension on my cloned drive. None of
them appears to be the right file, as the most recent was dated 2000. I know
I added lots of things to my AutoCorrect list since then!

There will be one for each language; 1033 is English, and if you haven't
created any entries in any other languages, you don't need to bother with
any others. My MSO1033.acl file (the one with the most recent date) is in
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Microsoft\Office.

Wouldn't the date reflect the most recent edits to the file? And can I just
move it to the right file on my main hard drive? Thanks.

I think that's what I was suggesting. I was just telling you where you need
to move it to.

I accidentally posted this question twice so there are two threads. I copied
my normal.dot template and my MSO1033.acl from my backup to my main hard
drive. Now AutoCorrect seems to be working as it should. I appreciate your
help!
