Transferring and synchronizing folders

I have a desktop at location A with a 10G folder which I shut down when I
leave for Location B. I use a laptop to copy the folder then transport it to
loc B and copy it to the same folder on B. This large folder takes forever
to copy from computer A to the laptop then after relocating to my other home,
from the laptop to computer B; vice versa on my return to A. Is there an
easier way using briefcase and synchronizing or some software that would
allow me to update without recopying the entire folder?
