Transfering programs from windows me to xp...

I recently purchased windows xp. I downloaded in my
computer which already had ME. I thought that it would
download on top of ME leaving all the programs intact.
But now when I start my computer I have to make a choice
between XP & ME. When I choose XP none of my programs are
there, but when I go to ME all of them are there. How do
I resolve this problem? Did I download it wrong? Also
after this situation is resolved can I delete ME from the
computer?
 
This is because you chose to make a clean install instead of upgrade
install. To coreect this problem you have two options:

1) You install while running WXP, all application softwares you want to
use with WXP.
2) You install while running WinME, WXP by upgrade installation.

Note that by upgrade installation, all installations of application
softwares are inherited from WinMe to WXP installtion.

My reccomentdation is 2)
