Transfering program files

I am getting ready to setup a new computer with XP. I currently run with
98se. Does anyone know if there is a simple software program out there that
will transfer my user files such as .wab files, favorites folders,etc quick
and easily rather than manually copying the files and transferring them by
disc.! At one time I remember seeing a program that would do this by
connecting the two computers with a serial cable. I have since forgotten or
maybe just incorrect.
