I have a new pc on the way with windows xp I want to keep
my photos screensavers etc. from my old win 98 what is the
best way to transfer them My old one doesnt have a cd
burner but they both have a floppy disc drive,

maybe, install your old HD as a 2nd HD in the new PC...watch out for the OS
mess though...

OH, does your new pc have a DVD / CD writer....

Do you have a zip drive or know anyone who does that would
help you copy the files on the zip disk and then when you
get your new machine you could unzip it and have the
photos. Or...can you compress them and send them to
yourself on email as an attachment and then unzip on your
new computer. Not sure but I think it would be a .jpg
file.

If you have a hispeed internet connection chances are you have a working
network interface card in the old PC. The new one will almost certainly have
one. Buy or build a crossover cable (if you don't have a hub already), set
up a workgroup and file sharing and just copy them across. You will find
lots of sources on the web to help with each of these steps. Non of them are
rocket science.
