Transfering messages

I want to transfer all my messages from one PC running Vista to another
running Win7 which I have Windows Mail running on. However, I have two
problems:

1. On transferring some of the transferred folders contain the full message,
some only contain what you might call place holders e.g my transferred Inbox
has 'From' with a list of 30 or so messages but just shows an envelop and
the date and time but no message

2. Is there away to transfer attachments too?

1.a. Which hacks did you use to get WM to run on Win7?
1.b. Exactly how did you transfer the messages?

2. Each attachment is an integral part of its parent message.

It was easy, you simply copy the windows mail folder contents from the Vista
PC to the Win7 PC you will be asked for permissions to take ownership, do
that and away you go - there are instructions for this all over the 'net.

Message transfer was via the 'Export Messages' routine within WinMail, then
import them

I'm aware of the hacks, having been the first one to post them here.
Just wanted to make sure you were on the right track.
Additional hacks are available for making WM respond properly to
clicks on web page MailTo links.

To what media (thumb drive?) did you export the messages?
WM often has issues with exporting/importing to/from external media.
So you must always use a folder on your hard drive as an intermediary step.

If you still have access to WM in Vista, consider using this free third party utility:
