Transfering Files

I have a new Vista machiine and I want to transfer files from the Vista
machine to my old XP machine. I haven't been able to do this. The XP
machine refuses to copy thye files. Is this a function of where the CD I'm
using has been formatted or is it related to the file stucture on the Vista
machine?

Define "refuses to copy". What EXACTLY happens when you try?

I'd guess that you used packet writer software to write to a CD R/W on
your Vista machine.(The reference to formatting the disk supports
that.) Disks written with a packet writer can sometimes be read on
another machine if they're closed properly, but your chances are
better doing it the normal way.

You could bypass the whole thing by using a USB thumb drive.

To transfer large data files, USB flash drives or USB hard drives are usually
the fastest and most reliable.
