I have a new Dell 4600 with Windows XP and MS Office that
does not have Access. I have Access on an older computer
and do not want to go to the expense of adding the new
Access. My older version is just fine. How do I transfer
the older Access to the new computer and have it work
with the new edition of Office products (Word, excel etc)

Pop in your office cd, do a cutom install and then install access only.

Programs like Access cannot be transferred, they need to
be installed.

If the OP uninstalls Access from the old PC and installs it
on the new one, he/she has *transferred* the installation,
you idiot.

Thanks for that enlightenment.

In (e-mail address removed)
not allways Word 97 will work without being installed,
prints and all.

Except for an occasional very small simple program (of which Word
is *not* one), all programs have entries in the registry (as well
as elsewhere). Simply transferring a program does not transfer
those entries, and the program will not work if you do this.

You have to install a program (again except for the trivial ones)
before it can be used.

Pisslu, I can understand why you are such a miserable turd. With a name like
yours you must have endured lots of ridicule on the playground. I'm sorry,
but you deserved it.
