I am using VMWARE's P2V tool to convert a physical XP Home machine in a
virtual machine. Once the conversion is complete XP boots as expected and
will not allow you to log in becase it needs to be activated again. I attempt
to activate the product over the internet and phone with no success. I tried
entering a new product key off a retail copy of XP home which had never been
used and this also did not work. Is there anythign I can do to get XP home
activated again? Is there any way to reset the grace period?

How did you attempt to activate if you couldnt log in...Try at start-up,tap
the F8 key, select safe mode with networking, enter xp as administrator,
activate xp.

Sorry, I can login in but the desktop will not load. I get prompted to
activate the product and like I said earlier nothing will work to activate
the product.

Is your source machine running the OEM version of XP Home?

"Microsoft Windows XP - Non-Volume license versions of Window XP are not
supported. That is, an operating system protected by Windows Product
Activation (WPA) may not function on a computer other than the computer on
which it was originally installed. "
