Transfer text Read Only Error

I have just converted from Access 97 to Access XP 2002. I have a macro that
runs the "transfer text" command. Parameters are:

Transfer type: export word for windows merge
Table name: WordMergeQuery
File Name: c:\WordMerge.doc

When I run the macro, I get this message:
"Cannot update. Database or object is read only."

1. I have checked c:\WordMerge.Doc. It is not read only.
2. I have deleted c:\WordMerge.Doc and re-run the macro: same error.
3. I have changed the filename in the macro to c:\test.doc. Same error.

This macro ran fine in Access 97.

Operating system: Windows XP
All patches up to date on Windows XP and Access XP.

Solution for Access 2000 can be found at Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 209976
Unsure if this also applies to XP, but must be worth a go.
 
Sorry, but this article does not address my problem of the TransferText
action giving a "Cannot Update: ReadOnly" error message.
