Transfer of Data

Z

Zygy

To secure all data on my PC (in case it crashes again as it did few months
ago) I want to transfer all of it onto another PC with a PC Mover software.
Both PCs are with Vista Business.
PC Mover recommends that prior to the transfer I should turn OFF the
following:- Screen Saver, Hibernation Protocols and Power Saving schemes.
Their instructions are for Win.XP, so how do I (self taught user) do it on
Win.Vista?

PC Mover recommends that prior to the transfer I should turn
OFF the following:- Screen Saver, Hibernation Protocols and
Power Saving schemes. Their instructions are for Win.XP, so how do I (self
taught user)
do it on Win.Vista?

Turn off screensaver:
Right-click the desktop > Personalise > Screensaver > select (None) from the
dropdown menu.

Turn of Hibernation:
Open up a command prompt. Run it as administrator (right-click Command
Prompt icon in the All Programs > Accessories menu, and select Run as
Admin).
At the prompt, type "powercfg -h off" (without the quotes).

Turn off power saving:
Control Panel > System and Maintenance > Power Options. Open each power
saving scheme, and select never/none from the drop-down menues.
