Transfer from word to powerpoint

I have a large font 57 page document in word I want to
put into power point. I click send to and it sends it to
power point but is not formated into each individual
slide. Power point make 13 slides but text is not just
contained in those slides it over runs one slide to the
next. Try to show the presentation and part of the bottom
sentence is cut off of each page. Is there a way to get
power point to auto format the text into each slide
without having to cut and paste it myself. I have no
other images I want with these slides just the text from
word. I was told try adding a heading to the word
document but it did not do the trick. I also sent a small
one page document from word just to see what would
happen. Powerpoint took each sentence and made it its own
slide. I am very novice with powerpoint can anyone help.
Thanks.

Yes, of course.

There does seem to be some confusion on the basic premise of PowerPoint. It
was designed as a presentation software. Rarely will one need to display a
57 page Word document, word-for-word, on the big screen. The designers
believed that you would just want to display the main points, while your
talk covered the detailed text.

To this end, they keyed the Word to PowerPoint converters off the outline of
the document, instead of the full text. To circumvent this design, reformat
your document in Word into an outline (A single paragraph per main level)
and PowerPoint will get it just fine. Or at least this is the case on my
systems.
