Hi All

In my office the current situation is.

1. Main Office.
Windows 2000 Server and connected to internet via ADSL router. It is
domain (OfficeDomain) controller too all the users in office are using this
for log on.

2. Library
Server running Windows 2000 (LibDomain) and all user of Library using
this server for log on

3. Student Lab
This contain 25 computers and these are part of Library domain they log
on using (LibDomain).

All three sections are interconnected and there is two way trust
relationship between both the domains.

Now we got two new machines

1. Machine1 we have to install and configure Windows 2003 server for
authantications of office users (officeDomain) and same server should work
as FileServer too replacing old machine.

2. Machine2 we have to install and configure windows 2003 server and ISA
2000 as part of (officeDomain) and have two network cards.

Install Windows 2000 on old officeServr and configure as library Server
replacing old library server.

At this point some one may say do it ! Whats the problem then ?

Problems or issues are:

1. How we can copy and install previous Active Directory user information
including password(OfficeDomain) windows 2000 to new windows 2003 Domain
(machine).

2. How we can copy and install previous Active Directory user information
including password (LibDomain) windows 2000 to new windows 2000 Domain(new
machine).

3. I knew in NT 4.0 there was a backup server if domain controller fails
then back up server can overtake, how we can configure same thing in windows
2003 and windiws 2000 environment for both domains (OfficeDomain) and
(LibDomain).

4. All the users should use ISA to access internet.

5. when Students log on they should not save anything on local drive, one
folder will be provided on fileserver for each student.

6. Staff of both the domain can save locally as well on file server.

7. How to configure a default printer for every user when he log in he dont
have to install any driver or something to print.

I know its not possible for some one to answer of all these questions in
one go but this will helpfull if you just mention any reference to look for
a particular topic

I will be very thankfull for your suggestion, help in this matter.

Kind Regards

Fayayz

question 1. install new 2003 server as additional controler of the 2000 domain and all user information will be in the two servers. Then make a DCPROMO in the 2000 to depromote and when ask you "is the last controller in the domain? say yes.

sorry the answer is NO becouse you have another domain controller the Windows 2003 server
Also you nedd to install DNS service in the 2003 server.
