Yes peer to peer. If you are not connected to the internet and have
assigned IPS, then you have to manually give yourself a workgroup, and
IP address. 10.0.0.01 and the other machine 10.0.0.2 would be good.
Once you do that you should be able to share a folder on the XP machine,
browse the network on the 98 machine and see it and then copy things to
that share folder. Then on the XP machine just redistribute the files.
IF all things work right.

I tried on both pc using xp and set the following values
xp1 ip add: 150.100.100.10
subnet mask 255.255.0.0

xp2 ip add; 150.100.100.20
subnet mask; 255.255.0.0
folder "xyz' shared

Both workgroup : MSHOME

PC physically connected using noirmal LAN cable (tht is used to connect to
router/modem). In this particular peer-peer, there is no internet connection
tnat is to say it is not connected to a modem etc.

xp1 try to ping xp2 (150.100.100.20) and it says 'destination host
unreachable'
at c:>\ ipconfig /all it shows 'media disconnected"

Now where did I go wrong? Thanks for your time

150.x.x.x is not a private reserved IP address
