I have loaded TS into a laptop and desk top both running Vista. They both
appear to run ok. After playing I exit as normal. The desktop appears ok but
with thin line along the top with the text" train simulator". Both pcs freeze
..Then ctrl alt del produces the option to log off. Any help as to cause and
remedy appreciated.

Run Trainsim in a window by making the shortcut:

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator\train.exe"-vm:w

Also make sure you run it as administrator

Exiting many games on various windows versions can result in video
corruption. If u cant find the solution, just REBOOT. No big deal.

The new version is coming soon. Hang in there.

big wow., I found TS to be THE most boring sim of all time.

Well, I always wanted to be a train driver (grin!) I have struck the same
issue, although in my case I am left with a full screen black window. I use
Alt/Ctrl/Del and shut it down that way. It works OK, but it's not very
elegant. While actually running on Vista it's fine, so it's just something
about the closing of the program that's the issue it seems. I believe the
new TS coming out is a totally new program, not just a rewrite of the old
one. So you're not alone is waiting for MS to do something about it.

For TS aficionados, I hope MS does a better job with the update than the
underwhelming Flight Simulator X. I much prefer the 2004 version of FS.
