my boss has Outlook 2007 and the tracking for read receipt buttons usually
appears when someone has sent a read receipt back -- she recently did some
updates, so not sure if something goofed up, but now we cant locate the
button for any emails that have read receipts, she even sent me a test email
and I sent the receipt back, but the email doesnt print with the read receipt
nor can we find the button that shows that it was read -- any suggestions???
 
I think you're asking how to get read receipts by default in Outlook 2007.
If so, go to Tools/Options/Preferences tab -- E-mail -- E-mail Options --
Message Handling - Tracking Options, and check Read Receipt.

You can also set these on an email-by-email basis: In a message, choose the
options tab and check Request a Read Receipt. I use that option frequently,
so I added it to the Quick Access Toolbar.

No, I know how to -- the problem is that for some reason the tracking on
previous emails is no longer showing that it had a read receipt --- it had
one once and now its gone, dont know how to get it back.....

To be pedantic, you can't "get read receipts" by default, you can only
_request_ them. Whether or not you get the requested receipt is up to your
correspondent.

Are the messages still inthe original Sent Items folder?
 
No the message is in another personal folder -- under the inbox -- she saves
everything for that person in one folder whether it was sent or incoming.
 
right, you can request them -- and she did get the read receipt from the
person and at first we were able to see the read receipt on a tracking kind
of tab for the email -- and when you print it you see who has read it as well
-- but somehow neither no longer shows --- so Im trying to find out why and
how if we can get it to come back...

Tracking is available only when the messages stay in the Sent Items folder.

so if its moved back is it fine? That's odd, cuz I have tracking on mine
still but I think maybe because mine is Vista??? hmmmm well I'll let her
know. thanks
