Tracking Changes in Word 2002

I've got a document created in Word 2002. I've been told that a list of all
changes made to that document needs to be included in the document, but in a
section all by itself.

I've turned off format and commenting, so that only additions and deletions
show. My problem, is that I can't copy and paste the changes into another
part of the document.

I tried printing down the changes, but then EVERYTHING is printed, including
things I don't require such as format changes and userid of person making
those changes.
Additionally, this list of changes that prints down only prints, I can't
even save it as a text document so that I can edit it to remove what I don't
want.

Does anyone know of a way that I can copy/paste the tracked changes?
Or...of a way to take the print file of the changes and convert it into an
editable document?

I'm going to try to convert this document to a Word 2007 document this
weekend to see if Word 2007 allows me to do what I need to do, but I'm not
very optimistic.

A suggestion that is often made about these printable files is that you set
your printer to "Generic/Text Only" and then print to file. This will create
(I think) a .txt file that can be (saved as a Word doc and) edited. My
experience is that, while the text is certainly in the file, there's also a
lot of garbage, and a *lot* of cleanup is required. But it's worth a try if
you want to see what results you might get.
