Tour de Yorkshire went past here yesterday. Thousands turned out to watch despite the miserable weather.

This was the warm up section and the racing itself started about a mile further along the road. After at least thirty police motor bikes the whole group of riders and back up teams came through at such a pace that there was little time to get many pictures. There was a great atmosphere and it is reckoned that 2 million spectators turned out for the three day event. This section was 198 kilometres, Middlesbrough to Scarborough, on a very circuitous route. The winner did it in 4 hours 51 minutes - most of us would have needed twice that time or more. :D

Not many pics I'm afraid.

Great stuff! I'm glad the bad weather didn't put you off (nor the 2 million other spectators) :thumb:

I once stayed up in Derbyshire back in the 80's when the area had the Milk Race Tour.
Great fun watching everyone wizz past!
