Toshiba satellite pro 4600 won't power on after standby!

hello to all,

one time, i did put to a standby my Toshiba satellite pro 4600,
and now i can't turn it on.

when i press the power button, the power led lights up,
the floppy disk drive makes a very short noise and thats all.
hard disk isn't spinning, DVD-CDRW drive door won't open,
the screen stays black, no error messages, no beeps at all.

i would like to try updating the bios, but i can't get to
doing that, because my laptop is not working :(

i found that one guy had the same problem here:

i emailed my question if he had fixed this problem,
but haven't got any answer yet.

any reply would be greatle appreciated.
thanks,

Juozas K.

Most PCs and laptops will get out of standby mode by holding down the power
on button for 5-10 seconds to force a power off.

yes, laptop power supplies have some things that are like in
ATX power supplies in PCs.
holding down the ATX power button powers off the supply in
usually ~4 seconds, in my laptop it works too, but when i power it on,
nothing new happens. :(

i tried removing and putting on the batteries too.

Are you plugged in or are you using battery power? In which case you will
need to plug it in and try. Have you tried a floppy disk boot up?

i tried both, doesn't matter what is used.
i can't try to boot from anything, because it won't even try to
search for a bootable floppy or CDR or HDD.
(no FDD scratching, nothing) :(
except the short FDD sound right then when i press the POWER button,
but its just that, the power up FDD scratch sound.
