Toshiba Laptop DVD-ROM/CDRW Combo

hi,
I have Toshiba Laptop model 2805-S603 with DVD-ROM/CDRW combo drive
model SD-R2002.
It was working good but after I reinstalled WinXP Pro it no longer reads
CD-R and CD-RW. It can read DVDs
and blank CD-R/CD-RW.
CD-R and CD-RW media is good because I can read them on my desktop DVD-ROM
and CD writer drives.

Any suggestion and help will be appreciated.

There are two lasers in it, one for the CD side and one for the DVD side.
Either the CD side is dirty and needs cleaning (use a standard CD cleaning
kit) or I'm afraid it has died.
