Top toolbar in Excel gray, except File and Help - any suggestions

The very top toolbar in Excel - File, Help and Adobe PDF are black,
everything else is grayed out. Any suggestions?
 
All existing Excel documents AND all new documents - doesn't seem to matter.
 
No - doesn't seem to be. I did check that. It is happening on all stored
Excel documents and all new documents, as well.
