what tools are available in the operating system (windows xp) to
monitor memory useage?

TaskMgr will give you information from both the Performance and
Processes (Tabs).
Click Start, Run (Type) TaskMgr [Enter]
Will open in a small footprint mode, so it's best to resize/maximize
and then you can add/remove columns to view data important to you.

Also, black_13, tell us what you're trying to accomplish. There may be
third-party tools that are better suited for what you want to do.
