Tools Design

Several months ago I had the same question. My computer programs had to be
reloaded and I lost the Tools Design tab. I am trying to change my page
numbering in the footer. The first page has no number, the other pages start
with 1 through 12 and then at the 13th page the numbers need to change to I,
II, etc.

HOw do I get the Tools Design tab loaded back Word? That is the main thing
I am missing. Once I get that, I can go from there - I think.

I believe you are referring to the Header & Footer Tools | Design tab; it is
displayed only when the insertion point is in the header or footer. But you
can access the Page Number Format dialog by choosing Format Page Numbers...
on the menu below the Page Number button in the Header & Footer group on the
Insert tab.

That tab only shows when your cursor is located in your header/footer. If
you click out of the header/footer, the tab disappears. To get it back,
double-click your header or footer to get into the edit mode and the Header
and Footer Tools -> Design tab should reappear.

Alternatively, on the Insert Tab, click Footer -> Edit Footer. You should
now be in edit mode in your footer and the tab should be back again.
