Toolbar won't lock in Windows Explorer

MOST of the time I do not have this problem but randomly Windows Explorer 'forgets' my settings fo
1) no text on icons &
2) the position of the toolbar

I have 'Lock the Toolbars' ticked all the time but every now and then WinXP just resets it all back to default settings; I change it back to my preferred place; maybe the same day or maybe weeks later WinXP resets it. I have scanned with 2 AVs/SpywareRemovers and can find no viri or nasties

I have been trying to track this down to some activity I do but I just can't correlate it with anything. I have no problem in IE, only WinExplorer

Any clues or suggestion

I had this a while back... formatting and reinstalling
windows should do the job =)

I tried a LOT of stuff to get it back to normal, but none
of it worked...

I'm afraid you'll have to either live with it or you'll
have to reinstall windows...
