Too-white background

P

Pete

I just bought an LCD monitor, and yeow! The white of the screens is
now so bright it is almost painful. I played with brightness & contrast,
but if I decrease those to make whites less intense, the colors of photos
are really dark & dull. In the old days when I used X-Windows / Motif
I could just set the background color to something like ivory or wheat.
Can I do something like that with XP Home? Thanks.

You can pick any desktop scheme you want. It works the same way it has in
Windows 98 and 2000. Right click an empty area of the desktop and click on
Properties then Desktop or Appearance depending on what you want to change.
Make sure you are running the LCD display at the proper resolution for your
brand of monitor. LCD's have a native resolution that they must work with
to perform properly.
