I have an old application that is no longer supported and to which I am quite
attached, and it won't install on my new machine.
It installed and ran OK on my old machine, under XP Pro with 256Mb. Now
under XP Pro with 1Gb it refuses to install and says "This program requires
at least 3MB of free virtual memory to run".
I've tried running in compatibility mode (Win2000 & Win98) to no avail -
same message. My best guess is that it can't comprehend the additional
memory and so thinks there isn't enough.
I'm aware (thanks to a post elsewhere from Ron Martell) that I can restrict
the amount of memory that Windows sees (using the /MAXMEM= option in the
BOOT.INI) but I don't want to do that if I can help it.
Is it possible to deny access to some of the memory just to a specific EXE
file?
