Too much info with Ultimate - Mapping a Network Drive

H

Hardedge

Forgive me for being ignorant but I have a drive attached to my router, 7 XP
Pro systems and 2 Vista Ultimate systems. One of the latter, which I bought,
not built, refuses to connect to the networked drive. It sends:

<system name>/<user id>
<password>

and the drive refuses the user id because of the extra info. I can't modify
it in the dialog box and it just keeps repeating. I don't know what's
different between the two Vista boxes but I'd really like the purchased
system to stop being so stubborn. Thanks.

Samba is (probably) the software running on your router. Vista has a
known issue with authentication to Samba-based devices. The link has
instructions on what you need to change on your Vista machine to
access the disk.
