Too many attachments

When trying to attach more than 21 small files, we get the error "Too many
attachments". They are all small files and they are below the exchange size
limit. It seems that this is only a problem in Outlook 2007 and not in
Outlook 2003.

Is it a setting?

Thanks,
Lene

No, this is a limitation set by the mail server. You might want to compress
the files into a single zip-file and try again.

When exactly do you get this error?
Do you get it as an Outlook error box or do you get an email message back
informing you about this limitation?
What exactly is in the message?

Too many files

Hi guys,

we are having a similar problem.

the user was using Outlook 03, we then upgraded them to outlook 07, and performed an upgrade of their exchange environment from Exchange 03 to Exchange 07 some weeks later.

The user is now experiencing the same issue where they can send 20 attachments without problem, but select 21 and you get a pop up stating "Too many attachments"

I have performed the following queries in the Exchange Management Shell:
get-transportconfig | fl
Get-ReceiveConnector | fl server,maxmessagesize
Get-SendConnector | fl server,maxmessagesize
Get-Mailbox yourmbx | fl maxsendsize,name

All of which respond with 51200kb (a bit excessive I know but I wanted to eliminate this as a possible cause)

The error message we get is a popup alert box from within outlook - not a rejection letter.

Hope this helps the others in identifying where our problem is

Thanks

I get the error when I have attached the files. When I press OK, I get an
Outlook error box: "Der er vedhæftet for mange filer" which means "Too many
files attached". It is a message from my mail system, no doubt about that.

I'm wondering if it is an Exchange Setting?

Thanks

just a quick update on ours. I had made all exchange settings - send/receive connectors internal and external to 50mb but the 20+ files amounting to 7.5Mb still caused the error. I believe the error is coming from a lotus notes email server which happens to be a smart host that outgoing smtp from the exchange server is sent to. We have requested the IT dept that looks after this server - this company manages the building - to increase the size of the messages and # of receipients... hopefully this will fix the issue
