Too long password, can't log in

Guilty of being a newbie.....resent as anonymous, sorry.

I am the Administrator on my personal machine running
XP. I changed my password but I chose one too long for
the spaces available at log in and it will not accept
it. How can I log into my account and correct this?

Thanks,
Geoff

.iof your password was too long ( which seems unlikely )
then your PC would have told you so when you first enterd
it as a password, if however it didn't i would imagine
that you dont actualy have a password, or it is BLANK,
meaning nothing there. try that, it may work. failing
that type in the password you thought you had but stop
when you get to the end of the password box, that may
also work as it may only remember that amount in info you
gave as your password.

good luck

I've never heard of that. My passwords are generally between 14 to 24
characters and I log in all the time.

Is it telling you incorrect password? Make sure caps-lock is off and if a
laptop, numlock is off as well. The space for the password doesn't stop
accepting characters when you fill it up.. It keeps going. But if it makes
you feel better, try pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL twice in a row if you log in
using the "Welcome" screen. That will pop up the classic logon where the
password field is.. larger. heh
