Too Few Headers for Viewing

I have messed up WindowsMail on one of my machines. For some reason the
number of headers available for viewing is limited to +/- 100 even though I
have the default 300 set. I have deleted the accounts and set up several
times with the same result. Can someone please tell me how to tell Windows
Mail to go back to showing me at least the 300 I've asked for. As an
example - this newgroup is showing 298 messages, 298 read, 15221 not
downloaded but only 106 are available for viewing! Help is needed.

Go to Tools>get headers.

Been there done that many times. Got a "Get Headers" in the tool bar!
However, it seem like the longer I let this thing sit and run the more
headers I get in the newsgroups header pane? Does Vista gather this stuff
in the background at its leasure?! I am now up to 200+ headers in most of
the newsgroups I am subscribed to.

Go to tools>options>Read tab and remove the check mark from get 300 headers.
Then do a Sync All.

If that does not get you the headers then try right click on the newsgroup
in the folder list>properties>local file>reset.
HTH?

Also check your view setting while viewing a newsgroup in question,
view>current view, ensure All Messages is selected.

Also :)
Select the news server in the folder tree and try setting the Sync' setting
to All Messages.

I tried everything you suggested plus a few extras like deleting the whole
Window Mail folder and resetting the Newsgroups. About the only thing that
had the expected effect was the turn off the 300 check box and do the
newsgroup>properties>local file>reset and reload. That brought in thousands
of headers etc. I don't know what is going on but Windows Mail must store
stuff in the registry and won't forget about it. It remembered that my
store folder was in the D: partition etc. even though I deleted all the
Windows Mail folders I could find including the one in the
users/appdata/local/microsoft/windows mail folder. Short of a complete
Vista reinstall does anybody out there know how to reset Windows Mail to
it's original default values?
