Told I could swap 32 bit for 64 bit but offer not valid by Microso

Bought 32 bit OEM version of Vista Home Premium at local computer store. I
was told I could swap for 64 bit version on Microsoft web site. I found link
to swap versions at...

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/windowsvista/editions/64bit.mspx

Microsoft websites says offer invalid with my product key and apparently
does not offer ANY support either. So I am a misinformed buyer that did not
get what I thought I purchased. I called the MS customer service number was
repeatedly ignored my situation and offered to sell another copy. So I hung
up on the human that acts like a recording machine.

I will return the product tomorrow. However since it was opened they will
not want to accept it. At which point I will inform them that I was given
incorrect information by sales clerk that caused the wrong purchase. Then I
get to talk to the store manager as well probably.

I do view this inpart as my fault for believing salesman, but why would a 32
bit OS be sold with a 64 bit computer and not be swapped? Likely because it
is an OEM version, but if I exchange it for retail version if I can, will it
happen again??

Hi,

Retail versions allow for the exchange, some OEM's may not - but you know
this now. Another reason not to try to save a few $$$'s by going with OEM
distributions.

Say a pretty good link about how useless Vista 64 bit is at this point, I did
some Zen meditation, and had a moment of clarity as drunks call it and
decided not to yell at the one eyed nerd who sold it to me. yes one, no patch
either. I also realized since the oem came with a 6 pack of thumb screws at
50% off Mr Gates will have to wait another millisecond to make back the money
i saved.

Please read the site carefully, the 64-bit DVD offer only applied to retail
packages and not OEM......

Sorry. But you should yell at the store......
